J. Wiggins began his journey into photography in late 2005 in Norman Oklahoma. After purchasing his first digital SLR, he began shooting various events in the Oklahoma City metroplex college community. After losing one of his close friends to an act of senseless violence, he realized that photography is a very powerful tool in preserving memories. It was during that time where he found his true passion for photography.

Since then, Mr. Wiggins has traveled from Los Angeles to Jamaica and a majority of points in between sharing his gift with the world. Words can't express how truly blessed to have a strong supporting cast of family and friends that are his cheerleaders of encouragement. Photography is a very rewarding profession and Mr. Wiggins has taken full advantage of the opportunities that have been placed before him.

Back in January, I wrote down some of my business goals. Everything from how many weddings I wanted to shoot to the places where I wanted to be published. One of the goals that I wrote down was to be published by Jet Magazine. I grew up reading Jet and Ebony as a kid and I always wanted to be featured in there. Ever since I became a photographer, I would pic up Jet Magazine and look at all of the editorial pics right after I look at the Beauty of the Week of course. lol… 3 Weeks ago my goal almost came through. I as published on EbonyJet.com while covering the 105th Anniversary Convention for Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. Although I wasn’t published in the print version of the magazine, THIS is the next best thing. I am still determined to get into the print version of this publication. There are no words needed, you tell the story through your images. Scrolling through these images, one is able to see a history and a future that African Americans have sought for. Keep up the good work!
