One of my all time favorite basketball players is Erving “Magic” Johnson. I remember growing up during the 80′s and watching the historic Lakers/Celtics series that helped make basketball GREAT! After his retirement, Magic did what some say call the unthinkable. He went into business for himself and opened a chain of Starbucks coffee shops. This doesn’t sound like a big deal now but in 1998, paying $6 for a cup of coffee was absurd. Not only did his first shop succeed, he went on to open up 115 more locations spanding across 14 states. I enjoyed him as a basketball player and I love him as a business man. He is a man that I look up to in the business community because he never took no for an answer. He overcame all odds and for that I will always respect him.
