A few weeks ago, I received a phone call from one of my good friends Marcus. He explained to me how it was his girlfriend Kim’s birthday and that he wanted to plan something EXTRA special for her. He began to explain the outline of a well thought of scavenger hunt that would feature places that were special in their relationship as well as some of the people that have helped them through. I was completely excited to shoot this special milestone in their lives and began thinking of ways to capture the experience in a fun and storytelling fashion. After a few days of mental preparation, I was ready to meet an unsuspected Kim at Brix sportsbar (Formally known as The Daiquiri Zone) where her and Marcus met 5 years ago. It was there that the couple exchanged numbers and began getting to know each other. Each location featured a close friend who explained what made that location special to their relationship and provided a clue that told her where to go next. Marcus’ good friend and Fraternity brother DeCarlos met with her at Brix and explained not only about how special this place was in their relationship but also explained that he was with him on the infamous evening.
The next location was Harkins Theatre where a great friend from church named (Insert Name Here) waited for Kim. Harkins Theatres was and still is a very popular hangout spot for the couple and they shared alot of great memories there. In fact, Kim also shared with me a few Harkins “movie tips” that Marcus likes to use every time he treats her for a date there. (Inside Joke) After we enjoyed a few stories, memories, and tears it was time to decipher the next clue. It stated that the next place on Kim’s journey would be Bach Rach in Pennsquare Mall. We headed there and was met by (Insert Name Here) an associate of Bach Rach. He not only knows Marcus but knows Kim very well due to the fact that Kim makes a majority of the purchases for Marcus in this upscale mens clothing store. After providing Kim with the next clue, it was off to Williams Sonoma to receive the next clue and special gift.
This event was one of the most exciting events I have captured in 2011 and I look forward to capturing more special memories just like the ones captured here.
